Austin Gunn made his professional operatic debut in the Edinburgh International Festival as Vorsinger Zaide with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra conducted by Sir Charles Mackerras and 1st Tenor Soloist Curlew River and was invited back the following year to sing Zweite Lehrbube Die Meistersinger von Nurnberg with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra conducted by David Robertson.

His English National Opera debut was in Stephen Montague's 'A Dinner Party to Celebrate John Cage's 100th' as part of the ENO MusiCircus, other ENO work has included performing an ENO outreach recital at Selfridges, an ENO Late Shift Recital at the National Portrait Gallery, ENO OperaWorks 'Interludes' as Don Ottavio, (Don Giovanni) and (Schauspieldirektor) at Saddlers Wells Theatre, Magic Flute 'Know the Show' for ENO Baylis and cover for Pliable/Superstition/Celestial Voice in Pilgrim's Progress at the Coliseum.

Austin performs frequently as a soloist at venues throughout Europe in the majority of oratorio repertoire and has given premieres of new works by Phillip Neil Martin, Alistair Jones and Stephen Montague.

Recording and film credits to date include Peter Maxwell Davies 'Solstice of Light' Kevin Bowyer (organ) James Grossmith (cond), Britten’s ‘Curlew River’ (1st Tenor Solo), Beethoven's 'Fidelio' (Sklaven) and Wagner 'Die Meistersinger von Nurnberg' (Zweite Lehrbube) all for BBC Radio 3, a recital of song for American television network PBS, and as the singing voice of a German soldier in the television series 'Band of Brothers' directed by Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks.
