The Operosa Forum is dedicated to promoting dynamic classical music and opera talent

I enjoy being the production’s engine as well as the mediator between the stage directors, designers, the budget and the tech experts.
In my free-lance time, I was working on rock‘n roll touring shows as crew chief or production manager on behalf of the local promoter for major acts like Peter Gabriel, Sting and David Copperfield and was once turning nobs on a sound desk in our high school‘s theater in Elkhart, Indiana as well as rock & pop venues in Southern Germany and Austria.

Once I had my music diploma in hand and after years of working backstage on the side to support my studies, I realized that my desire to make a living in classical music is not strong enough to sustain a career. I therefore followed my passion of making a stage for others. Having been in the position of auditioning for orchestras and performing live at a professional level, I am now able to anticipate artist‘s needs, appreciate their artistic individualism, understand their „language“ and also know where to set and enforce boundaries.

Through my involvement in an European commission funded project with the University of Leeds, Opera North Leeds, Sibelius Academy Helsinki, Shang-
hai Theater Academy and us, Bregenz Festival, I was given the chance to draft and run workshops, lectures and courses for international bachelor and masters students in the cultural industries at university level (i.e. Sibelius Academy, Shanghai Theater Academy) and am currently working on devising an 8-month modular producing and artistic programming course for Sibelius Academy, which we are due to start in November 2013. It is wonderful to work in
an university environment, to feel the power of the next international generations and to share one‘s experience.

In my now 15 years of professional experience, I have been able to work on many sides of the fascinating theater world; on stage as performer and event presenter, backstage as stage hand and sound tech, opposite the stage as opera, musical theater and rock concert producer/promoter, founder & director of an opera touring company and co-founder & director of an advertising agency.
