Mezzo-Soprano Claire Filer was born in New Zealand where she began a career that has involved studying and performing in the US, the UK and Europe. Claire holds a
Master of Arts with Distinction from her studies with Dennis O’Neill at the Wales
International Academy of Voice, a Master of Music from The Boston Conservatory in the US and a Bachelor of Music with first class honours from The University of Auckland.
Operatic engagements include Dorabella Così fan tutte (Birgitta Festival, Tallinn), 2 nd Witch Macbeth (Iford Arts), the title role in La Cenerentola as well as Lola Cavalleria Rusticana and Zweite Dame Die Zauberflöte (Woodhouse Opera), Maurya Riders to the Sea (Piccalilli Opera), Dido Dido and Aeneas (West Sussex Opera), as well as chorus work with Opera Holland Park and West Green House Opera, and a gala performance at the first Opera Sark Festival.
On the concert platform, Claire has performed Handel Messiah and Jephtha, Mozart
Requiem and Grand Mass in C Minor, Haydn Missa Sancti Nicolai, Missa Cellensis in
Honorem, Mass in Time of War and Lord Nelson Mass, Saint-Saëns Messe de Requiem and Oratorio de Noël, Dvořák Stabat Mater, Rossini Petite Messe Solennelle, Duruflé Requiem, Vaughan Williams Mass in G Minor, Schubert Mass in C Major, Vivaldi Gloria, and selections from Canteloube Chants d’Auvergne with Croydon Symphony Orchestra and Guildford Symphony Orchestra.
