Bozhidar Bozhkilov

Bozhidar Bozhkilov was born in 16.09.1993 in Sofia, Bulgaria. He graduated "Classical Singing" at the National Music Academy "Prof. Pancho Vladigerov" in the class of Prof. Niko Isakov, while also simultaneously studying with the great Bulgarian baritone Stoyan Popov and Maestro Mihail Angelov.
He has completed courses at the International Opera Academy in Sulmona, Italy; Master Class for vocal and acting improvement in the "Giuseppe Verdi" Theater - Buscudo, province of Mantova, organized by the International Opera Academy in Curtatone, Italy; International Summer Academy "Bulgaria" under the direction of Mihail Angelov; Vocal courses by Anna Tomowa-Sintow, Bruna Baglioni, Montserrat Caballe', Bonaldo Giaiotti, Carlo Colombara and others.
At the age of 19, in May 2013, he debuted in "The barber of Seville" by Giovanni Paisiello in the roles of Don Basillio and the Notary on the stages of the Italian opera theaters in L'Aquila and Sulmona, with the Abruzzo Symphony Orchestra. Two months later, he starred in a series of "La traviata" operas with the role of Dr. Grenville and Zio Bonzo in "Madama Butterfly" during the O.M.E.G.A. FESTIVAL, on stage in Florence and other cities in the region of Tuscany, Italy. On June 18, 2014, he debuted in the role of Masetto in "Don Giovanni" on the stage of State Opera Burgas. In April 2016, he made his debut in "Eugene Onegin" in the role of Prince Gremin, on the stage of Sofia National Opera and Ballet, and in September 2016 he made his French debut at the National Opera of Lorraine in Nancy in a production of "Gianni Schicchi" with the role of Simone.
He has participated in numerous concerts in prestigious halls on the territory of Bulgaria, Italy, Austria, Spain, France, Slovakia, Russia and others, including Gala Montserrat Caballe’ in the Mozart Hall in Zaragoza; "Gala Ettore Bastianini" in the "Spettacolo" Hall - Collesalveti, Italy; Gala Concert at the Mariinsky Concert hall in St. Petersburg, themed Concert "On the footsteps of the Masters" at the Chaliapin Museum in Moscow, presented by the Boris Christoff Museum in Sofia; Jubilee concert "200 years since the birth of Giuseppe Verdi and Richard Wagner" with the State Philharmonic Orchestra - Vratsa; Gala Concert in Concert hall "Bulgaria" with the participation of the most prominent students of the National Academy of Music "Prof. Pancho Vladigerov with Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra; Gala Concert of the Participants in the Third Academic Master Class of Kammersängerin, Dr. Honoris Causa of the National Academy of Music "Prof. Pancho Vladigerov" - Anna Tomowa-Sintow in Concert hall "Bulgaria", New Year's gala concert of Sofia National Opera and Ballet, etc.
He has worked with conductors maestro Mihail Angelov, Zaurbek Gugkaev, Dario Lucantoni, Giancarlo De Lorenzo, Roberto Manfredini, Alan Freiles Magnatta, Simone Marziali, Daniele Anselmi, Mario Menicali, Christo Pavlov, Ivaylo Krinchev, Martin Panteleev, Grigor Palikarov, Michael Balke, Eraldo Salmieri, etc., and directors Maria Francesca Siciliani, Alberto Paloscia, Alexander Tekeliev, Vera Petrova, Bruno Ravella, Joseph Alford, Ashley Dean and others.

Awarded with the Honorary Gold Medal "100 Years Boris Christoff" by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Bulgaria;

On November 23, 2014, at Teatro Filarmonico in Verona, after a Gala concert of young artists, finalists of the "Maria Callas 2014" International Competition, he was awarded an honorary sign of the Verona Lirica Music Association and Arena di Verona.
Laureate of the First National awards "Prof. Pancho Vladigerov", category "Classical singing", awarded to the most successful young Bulgarian musicians, on May 24, 2015, at an official ceremony at the National Music Academy, Sofia.

Laureate of the Fourth International Opera Competition "Franco Federici" - Parma, Italy
Award winner of the Xth International Competition for Young Opera Singers "Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov", Tihvin, Russia. Awarded with the special prize of the governor of Saint Petersburg and the special awards for musicality and artisticism.
Laureate of the Fourth International Opera Competition “Pavel Lisitsian” – Vladikavkaz, North Ossetia-Alania, Russia – Second prize, prize for the best performance of an aria from Russian composer and special prize for high artistic qualities, awarded by SERJ Classic Mecenat Foundation.
In June 2017 he held a semi-recital in the most important festival for chamber music in Bulgaria - "Balabanov's House Music Days International Festival" by the recommendation of Kammersängerin Krassimira Stoyanova.
Participated in the Mozart Residency masterclass of the "L'Académie du Festival d'Aix" from 12th to 24th of June 2017.
He sang the role of Ibn-Hakia in the production of Tchaikovsky's "Iolanta" during the Operosa Opera Festival 25th and 26th of August, followed by the roles of Zuniga in “Carmen” by Georges Bizet, Il Re in “Aida” by Giuseppe Verdi and Don Basilio in Gioacchino Rossini’s “Il barbiere di Siviglia”, where he partnered on stage with Alfonso Antoniozzi as Bartolo during the first edition of “Dionysia Opera Festival” in Corfu, held September 2017.
