Anna Borucka
Mezzo-soprano. A graduate of the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice. Recipient of a Ministry of Culture and Art scholarship (2007). Prize-winner of many vocal competitions. She has taken part in numerous master classes, including those of Christa Ludwig , Ingrid Kremling-Domański, and Francisco Araiza after which she was invited to take part in a project with Switzerland’s Verein Opera (2010). In the 2012/2013 and 2013/2014 seasons she attended the Opera Academy of the Teatr Wielki – Polish National Opera. She debuted in the part of Orfeo in Gluck’s Orfeo ed Eurydice at the Silesian Opera (2008), where she has also appeared as Dorabella in Mozart´ s Cosi fan tutti and the Innkeeper in Mussorgsky s Boris Godunov. Her repertoire also includes the title role in Bizet s Carmen and Prezziosilla in Verdi´ s La forza del destino. She collaborates with the Teatr Wielki Polish National Opera, where she has sung the part of Hannah in Weinberg´ s The Passenger, Marta in Tchaikovsky´ s Iolanta, the Chamberlain´ s Wife in Moniuszko´ s The Haunted Manor and Second Dame in Mozart´ s Zauberflote. At Bydgoszcz´ s Opera Nova she has been Laura in Ponchielli s La Gioconda. At the Cracow Opera she has sung the part of Ninon in Penderecki ´s The Devils of Loudun and Zofia in Moniuszko´ s Halka. At the Gliwice Musical Theatre she appeared as Venus in Offenbach ´s Orphee aux enfers and Mina in Kalman´ s Grafin Mariza. She has recorded Szymanowski s operetta Lottery for Husbands, or Fiance No.69 with the Polish Radio National Symphony Orchestra, while her collaboration with the Silesia Institution for Promoting and Popularizing Music has yielded the CD Ptasie plotki I inne wiersze. Witold LutosŁawski dzieciom {Bird s Gossip and Other Poems˸Witold Lutoslawski for children} with the Beethoven Academy Orchestra conducted by Maja Metelska. In addition to opera music, she sings an extensive repertoire of lieder and oratorios.
