Montenegro Opera Festival 2016 – Opera in the street?
Italian lyric tenor, Roberto Jachini Virgili was born in Fermo. In his hometown he learned the first principles of music through the violin and composition studies at the beginning, and later on by singing. He successfully gained his graduation diploma at the age of 19. At present he collaborates with Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Roma, especially with Renata Scotto, B. Praticò and Darina Takova. He’s a viola graduate. He won the first prize at the II Edition of Festival Duchi di Acquaviva (Atri) , at “Primo Palcoscenico” Cesena and at "Bruna Spiler" in Herzeg Novi, Montenegro.
He debuted in “La Bohème” at Teatro Comunale of Cagli in 2004, conducted by M° Borgonovo and produced by Ran Arthur Braun; the opera is repeated at Cami Hall in New York and at Asioli theatre, Correggio. At the same time he is admitted to Accademia Rossiniana of Pesaro headed by M° Alberto Zedda who promoted him to the cast
of the opera “Il viaggio a Reims” conducted by M° Lanfranco Marcelletti. In the summer 2005 he sang in“Elisir d’Amore” of Donizetti performed at Cagli’s and Pesaro’s theatres (Crescenzi/Tonon); in October 2005 he debuted in “Bastiano e Bastiana” an early Mozartian work (Borgonovo/Tonon), staged at the Auditorium of Casa Paganini in Genova as well. He was involved and contributed in contemporary operas like: “Il quadro delle meraviglie” of Mannino at Vaccaj theatre in Tolentino, “Snow-White” of Zaninelli conducted by M° Michele Mariotti and produced by Hevitt at Teatro Piccolo del Maggio in Florence. He’s a prize winner of the II International competition for young opera singers of Maggio Fiorentino where he followed the course of Gran Teatro Academy. In 2007 he debuted in “Racconti del Flauto magico” at Bologna’s town theatre and at Malibran of Venice produced by Duma, in “Gianni Schicchi” of Puccini at Fiesole’s Roman theatre, in “Combattimento di Tancredi e Clorinda” of Monteverdi at Dell’Aquila theatre in Fermo, in “La casa dei mostri” written by M° Furlan at Teatro Piccolo del Maggio Fiorentino. In June 2009, he was into the cast of “Il Mondo della Luna” as Eclittico at Teatro Bonci, Cesena, then again in Florence’s main theatre for “Il Campanello”by Donizetti, with Carminati as the conductor and Grinda as the director. Later, in March 2010 in the same theatre he was a protagonist in “Petite Messe Solemnelle”by Rossini. Afterwards, he was hired by Teatro Regio di Parma into Festival Verdi context : He sang in “Trovatore” as Ruiz (Temirkanov/Mariani) and in “Vespri Siciliani” as Tebaldo (Zanetti/Pizzi). He ended 2010 with 2 productions at “Pergolesi” Theatre, Jesi: “Madame Butterfly”by Puccini as Goro and “Monsieur Choufleuri” by Offenbach as Petermann. In February 2011, he was Ismaele in “Nabucco” with “Aslico”production (Pasqualetti/Colazzuol) debutting even at Teatro Arcimboldi in Milan and at Teatro Ponchielli, Cremona. In summer of the same year, he was Fadinard and Vezinet in Maggio Fiorentino with the opera “Il Cappello di Paglia di Firenze” by Rota (Alapont/Cigni). In Recanati, he was Conte d’Almaviva in “Barbiere di Siviglia” by Rossini and Ernesto in “Don Pasquale”, by Donizetti.
Into “Pergolesi Festival” context, he was a soloist into “Musiche nuove”, Premieres of Sacred Works by Cimpanelli, Taralli, Gregoretti.
In 2012 he sang as Ruiz in “Trovatore” at Massimo theatre, Palermo (Renato Palumbo/Lorenzo Mariani). In 2013, after being a finalist of “Jeunesse Vocal Competition” in Belgrade and the Winner of “Mario Binci Prize” in Castelfidardo, he had his debut in Traviata by Verdi as Alfredo (Rivani/Del Cherico) at Comunale, Fusignano, then as Bardolfo in Falstaff production, represented in Jesi and Sassari Theatre (Bisanti/Spada). In 2014, after being once again Conte d’Almaviva in Barbiere (Serenelli) , in Lucera (FG) he returned in Maggio Fiorentino in “La Metamorfosi” by Colasanti , Angius as the conductor, Pier’Alli as the director. Continuing in modern works, he is in “La Bottega dei Sogni “, at Petruzzelli Theatre in Bari, an opera by Angelo Inglese (Absolute premiere) and in “Bach House” by Dell’Ongaro(dir.Amendola). On summer he is again protagonist as Ismaele in Nabucco in Breslavia and Kiel ( Salwarowsky/Tarnawski). He is actively recording for “Tactus”, “Bongiovanni”, “Naxos”.
