Jie Yin

Jie Yin is an operatic tenor soloist and recitalist who was born in Beijing, China on October 10, 1985.

He had been studying in Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre (EAMT) since 2004. He received his Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree in EAMT. In 2010, he became the 1st Chinese doctoral student ever accepted by EAMT.

During his entire school life in the music academy, he had been studying in the class of the iconic Estonian bass-baritone Mati Palm during 2004 to 2010, then he started to train with the Belgian tenor Thierry Migliorini and the legendary Lithuanian tenor Virgilijus Noreika during his doctoral study.

He also had countless master classes with some of the most distinguished musicians in the world, such as Maestro Carlo Bergonzi, prof.Rudolf Piernay, prof.Eva Märtson-Wilson and prof. Annika Ollinkari.

He participated in many national and international competitions in the past decade. For instance, he was a finalist in the 1st Vello Jürna Vocal Contest, and won the audience prize of the preliminary round of the 30th International Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition in Jūrmala. In 2017, he won the Hawaii Public Radio’s International Art Song Contest.

Since 2006, He has given hundreds of performances in Austria, Belgium, China, Estonia, Finland and Germany. In 2014, he was invited by Mr. Kim von Binzer the professor of Royal Danish Opera Academy to be the tenor soloist in Verdi’s Requiem in Berlin Philharmonic Hall. He performed the leading roles in Cimarosa’s opera Il matrimonio segreto and Donizetti’s opera L’Elisir d’Amore in Estonian National Opera. In 2016, he was offered a soloist contract by Maestro Naydn Todorov the artistic director and chief conductor of the Ruse State Opera. He and a talented pianist Tiiu Sisask also founded the T&J DUO in the summer of 2016.
