Albina Smajlovic


ALBINA SMAJLOVIC, soprano, was born on 4th November 1982 in Gradiska (Bosnia and Herzegovina), where she completed High School. She graduated at the Faculty of Philology of Banja Luka, the Department of Serbian language and Literature. Then she enrolled the Academy of Arts in the class (Banja Luka University) of professor Snezana Savicic Sekulic. She has graduated in class of Dunja Simić in June 2013.
In 2005 as a part-time pupil she enrolled the Secondary School of Music named after composer Vlado Milosevic in Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina. In the first year of studying she already participated in the Republic Competition where she has won the first prize in solo category and first one in vocal-instrumental ensemble. In the same year she participated in the Solo Singers Competition named after Lazar Jovanovic that took place in Belgrade, in the category of chamber duets and with Slaven Abazovic, a baritone, she won the first prize.
When she was still in Secondary School of Music she was part of student Opera Studio (Music Academy Banja Luka) taking a role in a Puccini’s “Suor Angelica”.
In the year 2007 in the solo, IV category, she won three prizes: the special (100 points) in the Republic competition, the first in Belgrade International Competition of solo Singers (“Lazar Jovanovic”) and the third in Ruma “Nikola Cvejic” International Competition (Serbia). In the year of 2008 she has won the second prize in Herceg-Novi (Montenegro) “Bruna Spiler” International Competition. In 2009, in December, in the International Competition of solo Singers “Lazar Jovanovic” in Belgrade, she also won the first prize.
In the year 2010 under the patronage Embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Zagreb and Belgrade she had whole evening performances called „Concerts of friendship“.
In the year 2011, December, she has sang a role (Maidservant) in a first opera in Republic of Srpska, “Safikada” and the same year, in January, she has collaborated with Banja Luka Philharmonic Orchestra.
Among her stage singing participation she emphasizes those with the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra, at the Galery of Matica Srpska in Novi Sad, in the Poetical Manifestation “Brankovo kolo” in Sremski Karlovci, Student Cultural Centre and the National Theatre in Belgrade. She is a regular participant of traditional manifestation “Dani Vlade Milosevica”/”Days of Vlado Milosevic” in Banja Luka. She had a several whole evening concerts in Banja Luka, Bihać, Prijedor (BiH) and collaborated with conductors Ognjen Bomostar, Mikica Jevtić, Vanesa Kremenović, Vanja Topić, Branka Radošević Mitrović, Darinka Matic Marovic and Vesna Souc.
In year 2011 in September she was elected, among the twelve other singers from all over the world, to participate in master class which was led by famous baritone Tom Krause, at the Academie musicale de Villecroze, Provence in France.
In the year 2012 in October, she took a part in the International opera singing contest “Gian Batistta Viotti” Vercelli in Italy.
During 2013 she had concerts with an Philharmonic orchestra Banjaluka in open stage of old fortress Kastel.

In the year 2014 in National theatre she sung role of Diana in Jacques Offenbach operetta “Orpheus in the underworld”.
In May 2014, with few of her colleagues (precisely, eight) she formed an Association of opera singers “Figaro” with an aim and goal to lay future opera stage in Banjaluka (Republic of Srpska). They already had a number of successful concerts all over Bosnia and Herzegovina.

She was a member of Opera studio in National theatre in Belgrade (Serbia).
In present days, with teacher Stojan Stojanov Gančev (Zagreb, Croatia) she is working on her singing technique and interpretation.
She is part-time employed on a National Television Republic of Srpska (Section of Music production)
