Eraldo Salmieri

The Operosa Forum is dedicated to promoting dynamic classical music and opera talent

The Austro-Italian conductor Eraldo Salmieri is the Music Director of Operosa. He has worked with the Festival since its inauguration at the Evxinograd Castle in 2007 when he conducted "Don Giovanni" by W.A. Mozart with the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra, a dynamic young cast of singers and a supporting team of international artistic directors. Following his first appearance in Montenegro in 2014 with "Romeo & Juliette" at Operosa Mr. Salmieri has since conducted the Festival editions of 2015 and 2016 with performances of "Cosi Fan Tutte" and "La Cenerentola".

Eraldo Salmieri graduated in 1988 from the Wiener Musikhochschule with a degree in orchestral and opera conducting in the class of Professor Otmar Suitner and was invited by Herbert von Karajan to join rehearsals in Salzburg and Vienna.

After his debut at the Deutsches Theater in Munich he conducted at numerous opera houses, including: Hungarian State Opera Budapest, Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe, Staatstheater Bremen, Deutsche Opera am Rhein in Düsseldorf, Opéra de Rennes, Sofia Opera and Ballet, The National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theatre of the Republic of Belarus or Teatro Massimo Bellini in Catania.

Eraldo Salmieri – also active in the symphonic repertoire – has so far appeared and performed in cities like Vienna, Bonn, Zurich, Berlin (where he performed Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony with the Hungarian Festival Orchestra), Stockholm, Oslo, Milan, Turin, Verona and many others.

Mr. Salmieri was also Music Director of the New Symphony Orchestra (from Sofia, Bulgaria).

Futhermore he was invited to conduct as the Chief Conductor at the Solothurn Opera Festival in Switzerland, and also as Conductor and Music Advisor of the Festival dei Due Mondi in Spoleto where he worked with the Julliard Orchestra from New York. Moreover he conducted at: the Loreley Festival, at the Grosses Festspielhaus in Salzburg during the Salzburger Musikwochen and at the inauguration of the new Opera House of Belo Horizonte in Brazil. He was also a Guest Conductor at the Seyong Center for Performing Arts in Seoul, South Korea.

In Poland Mr. Salmieri was the Music Director and the Principal Conductor at Teatr Wielki in Pozan as well as Music Director at Teatr Wielki Lodz.
