Born in Mexico, Rodrigo Garciarroyo has been involved with music and stage since he was a kid. From a very young age he studied music, architecture and theatre. He started studying singing with Jorge González Ávila, and later he studied at both the Escuela Nacional de Música and the Escuela Superior de Música in Mexico City. There he met who has been his tutor, coach and friend ever since, the pianist Mario Alberto Hernández. Between 2003 and 2006 he was granted the Plácido Domingo Scholarship to study at the Sociedad Internacional de Valores de Arte Mexicano SIVAM. He has been awarded scholarships from the International Vocal Arts Institute IVAI, the Martina Arroyo Foundation and the Olga Forrai Foundation to study in Puerto Rico, Israel and New York since 2006, where he studied with Joan Dornemann, Lucy Arner, César Ulloa, Mignon Dunn, Martina Arroyo, Sherill Milnes, Ira Siff, Anthony Laciura, Joan Patenaude-Yarnell and Enrique Patrón de Rueda.


He has sung in the US, Europe and Asia, and in Mexico in stages all around the country. His repertoire includes fine songs from around the world, romanzas, chamber music, opera and symphonic music. Such as L’Elisir d’Amore ,Les Contes d’Hoffmann, Don Giovanni, Tosca, Un Ballo in Maschera, La Traviata, Zaide, La Bohème, Madama Butterfly, Il Tabarro, Beethoven’s 9th symphony, The Verdi Requiem, Cavalleria Rusticana, Carmen, Samson et Dalila, and Massenet’s Manon. He made his debut at the Palacio de Bellas Artes with the Compañía Nacional de Ópera as Cavalleria Rusticana’s Turiddu in 2011 under the tutelage of Mtro. Niksa Bareza. He made his Lincoln Center debut with the Verdi Requiem conducted by Mtro. Patrick Gardner in 2009.
