Young@Opera

Y@O is a two year programme that educates and supports young opera artists and promotes the development of both regional and local opera opportunities. The very best applicants have been selected as artistic team of Paisiello's opera "La Serva Padrona". In 2019 will be presented the brand new opera "NOVA" that will tour across 12 cities in the countries of Bulgaria, Serbia and Montenegro.

Who will participate?

Y@O is a two year programme that educates and supports young opera artists and promotes the development of both regional and local opera opportunities. The very best applicants will be selected as artistic team of Paisiello's opera "La Serva Padrona" and as well as a brand new opera "NOVA" that will tour across 12 cities in the countries of Bulgaria, Serbia and Montenegro.

How long the project lasts?

Young@Opera project lasts two years. Each opera will be performed in three rounds of tours during one year. First one to be produced is "La Serva Padrona" and  it will have its premiere in February 2018 followed by subsequent performances. The very last performance will take place at the end of 2019 closing the series of the newly composed opera "NOVA". 

Where does it take place?

Young@Opera will travel across Bulgaria, Serbia and Montenegro and visit 12 different cities. Belgrade, Herceg Novi and Sofia are just the first among them. Our goal is to contribute toward decentralizing opera and making it attractive for young audiences in the region. 

What will young artists experience with Y@O?

They will explore the demands of highly varied opera work; onstage expression, recitativo performance, early classical music style, newly composed music, contemporary performance, staging in unusual opera stages, work with the colleagues from the region, learn from renowned international mentors, travel and tour.  Up to two weeks rehearsal period in the countries of Serbia, Bulgaria and Montenegro will provide education packed production time that will empower, encourage and motivate young artists to pursue their goals in their own opera careers. 

 Who is eligible to apply and how?

Students, post graduates and young professionals are invited to apply and become part of the Y@O project. All we need is a filled in application form accompanied by a recording or portfolio of the artist.
